Sensing devices are deployed in an environment to take readings. It might be temperature, humidity, movement, the presence of a vehicle or how full a bin is. Measurements are taken on a near-continuous basis and sent to a central database using a system called LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network). This is a bit like a mobile phone signal but designed for specialist uses. For the more technical amongst you, we work with NB-IoT, LTE-M, LoRaWAN and Sigfox networks. Using machine intelligence, our systems track changes in conditions and, depending on the results, automated alerts can be raised or actions triggered. For instance, if a bin is nearly full, an alert can be sent to the management company to tell them it needs emptying or, if a parking bay is occupied an app can be updated to tell someone that it is not available. These are just examples but give us a call to find out more.
